PIMECO
PIMECO has developed a portfolio of novel antimicrobial solutions using the poly-imidazolium (PIM) technology in the prevention and treatment of bovine mastitis. These new novel polymer compounds are non-toxic, ecologically friendly, multiple-times more efficacious than existing iodine, chlorine-dioxide, chlorhexidine-based products & antibiotics and does not cause antibiotic resistance AMR issues due to its different killing mechanism.
Bovine mastitis or the infection of the mammary glands of dairy cows is the #1 problem in the US$800b dairy industry. Co-developed at NTU & MIT and funded by SMART & NTUitive grants, PIMECO is currently in full-scale final dairy farm trials in Malaysia for both its preventative and therapeutic products. This work plays a crucial role in promoting healthier livestock, improving milk safety, and supporting nutrition through a cleaner supply chain.
